"The Romance of Tristan and Iseult" is a medieval chivalric romance from the 12th century. It is a tragedy about the forbidden love between the Cornish knight Tristan and the Irish princess Iseult. Tristan's heroic exploits win Iseult as a bride for his uncle, King Mark. However, during their sea voyage to Mark's kingdom, Tristan and Iseult unknowingly drink a love potion that arouses their passion for each other and raises irresistible challenges to their loyalty and honor.

The story is a rich mosaic of the human experience, embroidered with colorful gothic elements like spell-weaving dwarves, love potions, magical bells, and even a monstrous dragon. The Romance of Tristan and Iseult is rooted in Celtic legend and French poetry.
